A hospital is supposed to be apart of the community. They have a ton of extra parking that they refused to let the general public park in for an event near by. Not cool. No excuses.
I have been staying here since Monday. When I got my first surgery. I have to stay another week (two weeks total) and have another surgery. Every single nurse has been caring and respectful to me. They are interested in me and want to help with what they can. Im on the 3rd floor room 332. I really actually enjoyed my visit for the first time at a hospital (and I've been to a lot). They are very strict about medication but make sure you get what you need when you need it. Their meals are basically room service. You call whenever and the meal is delivered in 30 minutes and there is a big range of menu options. The food is some of the best hospital food I've had. You get an entree, a side, a soup, a salad, a bread, a dessert and a drink. I plan on having a few more surgeries and I will be definitely choosing Lakewood again. 5 stars hands down!
Honestly I can't imagine all these bad reviews. My husband started out in ER, was admitted, spent 4 days there and underwent a procedure. Throughout that entire stay every single person was very friendly, professional and knowledgeable in whatever they did. Procedure was one done awake and the team made him feel comfortable and he said they worked extremely well together. I don't think you could ask for any better care. I've been exposed to many different hospitals over my years and this was by far the most positive experience.
Then a couple weeks ago my ex went there and was suffering excruciating head aches. It was determined that he had a blood clot near his brain. They gave him an IV medication that we were told would break up on its own without issue, he was then released. A 36 hours later he was not answering the door so his cousin busted a window. My ex was found unconscious and unresponsive so EMS were called. He was then taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital where they told us he had a skull fracture and was currently undergoing brain surgery. The staff at sarasota Memorial could not believe that Lakewood had released him with a blood clot near his brain. My ex has now received 2 Brain surgeries and is still in the ICU at Sarasota Memorial.
When I went to Lakewood Ranch Hospital last year I was delusional and near death. I was put in a medically induced coma for 3 and a half weeks. Upon waking up I was told that I had a heart infection which is why I had the tracheotomy and was there. On the second day which was a Saturday night my father came to see me, I had missed court for my driving charge while I was in the coma. I gave him my lawyers' information so that he could give the court proof that I had a medical emergency and did not intentionally miss court. Three days after waking up I was told that I was going to be transferred to a rehab facility that day so that I could learn to walk and gain motor function again but that there was no residual effects left from the infection. A few hours later I had a police officer enter my room. He stated that the hospital had called and reported that I had a warrant. The nurse came in to discharge me grinning ear to ear and stated that as part of their policy they had to report me. So the officer took me to jail. The entire time I was in jail my legs wouldn't stop swelling and the Dr didn't know why. After I was released they still were swelling even after taking over the counter dieuretics. I ended up going to the Sarasota Memorial hospital for what looked like an infection on my arm after being checked out a Dr came in and told me I needed emergency open heart surgery and that I could have died at any time. A symptom that my heart wasn't functioning right was the swelling in my legs called pitedemia. I was then told that Lakewood Ranch Hospital should have either transferred me Sarasota Memorial Hospital to receive open heart surgery or done the surgery there. At the very least Lakewood Ranch should have informed me that my heart would need further treatment.
We we're there for a diagnostic procedure. The staff were all professional and extremely courteous.
